Destiny 2 witch queen queue times12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() Queen Calanthe and King Eist then get word of Nilfgaard's arrival. ![]() Calanthe insists that they won't fall as there won't be a war, but with Ciri being so persistent to know more, Calanthe gives Ciri her first lesson "as in life, it's impossible to be fully prepared for battle." She's to keep her sword close and keeping moving. Should they fall, Ciri will rise to throne. Afterward, they host a celebratory feast, where Queen Calanthe, King Eist, and Mousesack discuss the encroachment of Nilfgaard. Queen Calanthe and King Eist hosts a knight induction ceremony with their granddaughter, Ciri. Just don't look for coherent plot and a sensible story line.Biography Defending Cintra from Nilfgaard It has some great moments, compelling subject matter and Osment puts in a truly great performance. I bet this was done in response to test screening. The second ending, as I like to call it, attempts to fulfill the demand for emotional conclusion that the odyssey portion of the film has built up yet fails to do so. ![]() Really, who cares? It's just an awkward plot device and you roll your eyes and ask "Wha-?" all at the same time. More face time for the FX folks and some really trite, contrived and irrelevant dialog from robots about the space-time continuum. Epilog, coda, call it what you want, the ending was tacked on and was just horrible. It was sad, pitiful and left us with the core moral issue of how we tend to implement an idea without thinking of the consequences.īut, no, here comes the fourth act - and the other major problem with this movie. The end of the third act is really where the movie should have stopped. I never quite got over the abandonment of the original story and didn't really feel like getting involved in the second one - both because it wasn't as interesting and because I didn't want to be cheated twice in two hours. The two have their place - but not in the same movie! Where the first act compels us to consider the matter, the second act throws us against the wall, puts a gun to our head and screams, "listen to me!"īy the third act, I had really lost interest. The second act is pretty much Back to the Future meets Thunderdome. For example, the staging in the first act is dominated by polished wood floors, furniture that is both kitsch and futuristic and smoky corporate offices. Following the sublime Chardonnay of Kubrick with the super-charged Frappucino of Spielburg is unsettling and frustrating. This is a huge contrast to the beginning of the story and is so different that it really feels like a whole different movie. Fanciful staging, lots of effects, the obligatory allusion to the holocaust and gut-wrenching turmoil for our little hero and his friend. ![]() From this point on, the movie is all Spielburg. I spent most of the second act wondering what was going to happen in the plot that was being developed in the first act. Then, the story that is being constructed is completely abandoned in the second act as the main character (boy robot) is taken completely out of the setting that's been developed to this point and we embark on an odyssey of sorts. (I really miss his work.) The characters are drawn clearly if not archetypically and draw us unabashedly into the ring of moral discourse which we achingly yet eagerly embrace. If this was Kubrick's work, wel l, it was right on target. If this was Spielburg's homage to Kubrick, well done. It also is very much in the style of Kubrick: sets, lots of master shots, slow moving and ponderous "photography in motion." The ambience is there to serve the story in every detail. The pit is deep, dark, poignantly adorned with characters against a somber stage that compels us to engage the material. We are immediately immersed in a moral conundrum. The first act of the film, which to me feels entirely Kubrickian, is great. This film tries to do both and it just doesn't work. Kubrick is a master at disciplined contemplation of a moral issue while Spielburg is a master at spinning a wonderfully entertaining yarn. Both have a unique style that do not mix well. I don't know to what extent each actually worked on filming, but it sure does feel like two different directors worked on this movie - which is problem # 1. I've read that Kubrick originally worked on this project before Spielburg picked it up. It tries real hard, but gets confused and lost. Being a fan of both Kubrick and Spielburg, this movie was a surprising miss. ![]()

Others stain blue with Cotton Blue, while others don’t.Ĭarefully gather, note, and synthesize information for optimal accuracy. Some species turn blue when exposed to Melzer’s reagent, while others go reddish-brown or don’t change color. Shapes: Mushroom spore shapes can be spherical, elliptical, cylindrical, or kidney-shaped.Let’s look at these characteristics one by one: Mushroom spore identification involves examining the cells’ appearance and behavior. Mushroom Spore Identification: Useful Traits Carefully recording unique features helps narrow down and identify even the rarest species. Mushroom spore identification requires an eye for detail and a good understanding of fungal characteristics. Take photos of the image under the lens for future reference, comparison, and analysis. Measure and photograph: Use a calibrated eyepiece or stage micrometer to measure the spore width and length.Use the coarse knob to bring the cells into focus, then the fine knob to sharpen the image. Place a cover slip over the cells and slowly magnify, noting the features. Observe the spores: Collect a small sample on a clean microscope slide. They’re long-lasting, easy to use and store, and completely legal while ungerminated. Get spore samples: Besides spore prints, researchers may acquire syringes filled with these cells and sterile liquid.Look for one with at least 400x magnification capabilities. Obtain a compound microscope: These tools are available in scientific supply stores. It’s a fascinating hobby that offers a wealth of information for mushroom spore identification. Microscopy is the practice of examining tiny cells under a magnifying lens to identify their traits. Luckily, our next method is legal and makes even non-American strains accessible to hobbyists. Since this technique requires the fruiting body, it’s not feasible on exotic or banned species, like psilocybe. Some small species require a magnifying glass to see the patterns. It’s essential to examine the print under a good light source. For instance, gilled fungi produce well-colored prints, while Morchella doesn’t. The latter shows the strain’s age and productivity. The former depends on the dominant pigment and clues them to the species. Researchers investigate the spore print color and consistency. The spores drop onto the surface, leaving a print for observation. Wait for the spores to settle: Leave the cap covered for several hours or overnight.Since spores have various colors, experts place one specimen on white paper and one on black to ensure visibility. Place the cap gill-side down: Drop it on a paper or glass surface.Cut off the stem as close to the cap as possible. Choose a mature mushroom cap: Pick one that’s fully opened and starting to flatten out.It shows the color and amount of these fungal cells beneath the cap and can indicate the species. The spore print technique is a straightforward and effective method of mushroom spore identification. It’s the perfect place to begin exploring this fascinating hobby. Since you're taking the Attack action, you still get your bonus action hand crossbow attack (on turns when you didn't use your bonus action to activate your Bladesong). So you can target enemies right next to you or from afar, both with your crossbow and the cantrip you can fire off with the new wording of Bladesinger's Extra Attack. With Crossbow Expert, you can fire your hand crossbow or cast a ranged attack cantrip while in melee with no penalty. A hand crossbow being one handed won't end your Bladesong since you only make attacks with it using one hand. Your Bladesong only ends if you make an attack with both hands. You can make a good number of attacks in melee or at range, so you don't have to feel forced to be in melee if you don't want to with your lower hit points. The Archery fighting style is very good and works well with a Dexterity based character, and allows you to raise your Intelligence first if you want and still have a good chance to hit with a hand crossbow. And thank you Alan for your courage in bringing the story to us. Thank you Juan for your courage in making the journey you did. ![]() Having watched the movie twice now I can’t wait to hear even more about this fascinating story, first-hand. Personally I am excited to be interviewing Alan Stivelman in a few days’ time for The 5th Kind TV. I can almost guarantee that you will not think or feel the same about ET contact after you have seen “Witness to Another World.” It is a narrative that dramatizes the relationship between an ET encounter, impact on human consciousness, and orientation rooted in ancestral memory – coincidentally all the themes of my book, “Escaping from Eden.” I have never seen a movie – documentary or fiction – that has illustrated these interweaving threads as powerfully as Alan Stivelman’s movie.Īlan’s privileged access to Juan – the boy in question, now a man – and the wonderful rapport he built with Juan alongside the world class expertise of psychologist Dr Nestor Berlanda and French Astrophysicist Jacques Vallee creates a journey which we are privileged to share through the narrative of the movie. In researching my own book “Escaping from Eden,” I came to believe that the world’s indigenous narratives and hold ancestral memories which speak powerfully to the question of ET contact, human consciousness and our relationship with the universe. In so doing he allows us a new insight into this unfamiliar aspect of the close encounter phenomenon. With great vulnerability and courage Juan invites Alan – and us – into his life. “Witness to Another World” is a powerful case study. In reality these experiences are often profoundly isolating and can take a long time to process and recover from. Often when we want to dismiss and laugh at reports of close encounters we casually suggest that perhaps people make these things up for the sake of 15 minutes of fame. The narrative begins with intrigue and questions surrounding Juan Perez, an Argentinian gaucho whose experience of a close encounter as a boy of 12 profoundly altered the course of his life. This beautiful, hauntingly human movie pulls us in to a place of deep feeling. It was a pleasure for me this month to interview Alan Stivelman – writer and director of the ground-breaking new movie, “Witness of Another World.” ![]() AuthorWrite something about yourself.
