Hand crossbow dnd 5e12/29/2023 ![]() ![]() So that's up to 4 attacks a turn at Bladesinger 6 if you have Haste buffing you (whether you're in melee with Haste or not is situation dependent with the potential downsides) The Haste spell gives you one extra weapon attack, which a hand crossbow qualifies for. Since you're taking the Attack action, you still get your bonus action hand crossbow attack (on turns when you didn't use your bonus action to activate your Bladesong). So you can target enemies right next to you or from afar, both with your crossbow and the cantrip you can fire off with the new wording of Bladesinger's Extra Attack. With Crossbow Expert, you can fire your hand crossbow or cast a ranged attack cantrip while in melee with no penalty. A hand crossbow being one handed won't end your Bladesong since you only make attacks with it using one hand. Your Bladesong only ends if you make an attack with both hands. You can make a good number of attacks in melee or at range, so you don't have to feel forced to be in melee if you don't want to with your lower hit points. The Archery fighting style is very good and works well with a Dexterity based character, and allows you to raise your Intelligence first if you want and still have a good chance to hit with a hand crossbow. Taking into account how the Bladesinger's new Extra Attack feature works, and the wording of your Bladesong feature, would toting a hand crossbow with Crossbow Expert work well?įrom the way I understand how all the features work, the synergy seems to be there if you have the Crossbow Expert feat.
